Panamanians are protesting against institutional chaos
Yesterday was a day of protests nationwide, motivated by Decree 130 and the dissatisfaction of communities around the lack of response from the authorities to their basic needs.

Yesterday was a day of protests nationwide, motivated by Decree 130 and the dissatisfaction of communities around the lack of response from the authorities to their basic needs.
The closing of streets, pressure mechanism commonly used by popular groups, was the common denominator on the first working day of the week, as well as the disappearance of the President of the Republic, who has more than one week so far without making any statements to the media.
Just as happened last Saturday, the Decree on cadastral updating was the catalyst for demonstrations nationwide that were carried out while the Government suspended the Decree validity.
During midday hours, students of Universidad de Panamá locked Avenue Simon Bolivar, in front of the University concerned and clashed with the national police anti-riot units, which resulted in two policemen and four students injured, as well as a colossal traffic jam.
Simultaneously, in the province of Colon, the regional University students came out to protest off-campus, in Arcoiris, for two hours.
In Chitré, teachers, professionals and public in general met on ring road via Carmelo Spadafora in front of Banco Nacional to protest in demand of the repeal of controversial Decree 130.
"Varela, respect us, don't mess with my home" chanted the demonstrators, who were supported by the people passing in cars.
Needs
On the other hand, the Panamerican Highway, at the height of District of Tolé, Chiriquí, was blocked by residents of the District of Muná, comarca Ngäbe-Buglé, demanding the Government for the provision of schools and the construction of the roadway from Cerro Name to Llano Tebujo.
In 2000 neighborhood, Arraiján, citizens blocked the main street, due to the lack of water for 10 days in a row.
At the same time, residents of Caimitillo, in northern Panama, blocked the main road in this sector due to the poor state of the streets.
