Users of the Public transport in the capital city and San Miguelito will have to wait three or four years to see any improvement in this service.
The via Crucis of the users will remain, even though the State recently acquired 100% of the shares of Mi Bus Company, which manages the metrobus system.
Only last Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, promised the acquisition of 700 buses, hiring 400 operators and repair the current fleet, among other things.
In that sense, the former Director of the Authority of Traffic and Land Transport (ATTT) Carlos Harris said: "all measures, if applied, are positive; However, so far, the mass transport of Panama, S.A. company does the capacity to meet the demand of users who use this means of transport".
According to Harris, the way in which the company was received was precarious and investment that must be made is very large, something that is not in a short time.
"Bought buses that are not suitable for the viability of the streets of the city, which worsens the frequency, so change of buses to a size that can circulate in the via freely unless they can interfere with anyone should be", he said.
For her part, Esperanza Mena, Member of the Foundation for the protection of users of public transport, said it is important to improve frequency system, strengthen the fleet and make the service more effective and uninterrupted.
"For a country to grow and develop, must be a public system efficient and uninterrupted, something that doesn't happen in Panama", said. Mena also noted that an issue that is pending are persons in acts of transit with buses of the company transporting massive de Panama, S.A. "it is not possible that there silver for everything and not they remember those affected. They are also human beings and need,"said the official.
In his speech, the Varela President did not define the future of the pirate buses, situation that neither managed to establish its officials, who are for the idea of this system, even though it is illegal, at least for the moment should continue to operate.
"We cannot cover the Sun with the hand," said Carlos Sánchez, Manager of the mass transport of Panama S.A. company
For his part, Harris said that, unfortunately, "pirates" are necessary in order to comply with the task, however, have to be regulated and subject to the regulation of the ATTT and legal provisions.
Meanwhile, Mena said that it is a transport that day charges a fee and at night, what more expensive pocket of users who use it by necessity to the poor service.
From the month of July this year, the Panama Metro and metrobus service will be integrated into a single rate, said Sanchez.
He said that the integration of rates will be more beneficial for the population, as will create a system to increase the frequency of buses and that users do not have to wait for a long time.
