Insecurity prevails in all parts of the country

The lack of security in the streets of Panama remains the Achilles heel of the current government’s administration and one of the main causes of dissatisfaction of the Panamanian population.

Insecurity, which for a long time was described by the authorities as a perception, is a reality that citizens have to face every day, not even places of leisure seem to be safe.

This week, the 23-year-old former Calle 7 contestant was attacked by a guy who stabbed her in her abdomen while doing exercises on the Coastal Beltway III stretch.

The girl was attacked by her aggressor, despite the fact that in the Coastal Beltway, the Institutional Protection Service (SPI) has a surveillance station to give security to both tourists and anyone who is going to play sports in this area.

Through a statement, the SPI stated that it is carrying out all the actions that the law allows in conjunction with the competent authorities.

What happened to Keith adds to other violent events recorded in recent days, such as the murder of mechanic Joel Obando, who was shot dead in the Martin Luther King neighborhood in Cativá, inside the mechanic's workshop where he worked.

Facing the situation of insecurity that the country is experiencing, former National Police (PN) director Rolando Mirones said that the problems of violence will be solved only when the fundamental problems such as the lack of jobs, education, among others, are tackled.

In his view, the Government has been wrong in the various strategies it has implemented to address insecurity in the country.
