JC Varela authorizes purchase of water for Carnival

Amid challenges to the current government's refusal to suspend Carnival in Azuero due to the crisis facing this region by drought, President Juan Carlos Varela authorized the purchase of 20,000 bottles of water to distribute during the holiday.

The president's decision came during a meeting with security agencies and ministers of state.

It was reported that the bottled water would be distributed to the population, " if required " during the Carnival days .

At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the National Police , also it reported on the operating of Carnival that will launch from Friday February 5 at 5:00 a.m. until Wednesday February 10 at 6:00 p.m.

The operation was dubbed Triton Safe Summer 2016 and involved 29,225 members of the security sectors , reported the Ministry of Communication of the State.
