Varela Ranch in a video for the promotion of tourism in Azuero

General repudiation has caused a video of the Government which seeks to promote the region of Azuero, showing scenes of Family Varela´s ranch.
The producers decided to dedicate the first eight scenes to ranch San Isidro (located in Pesé), where Ron Abuelo and Seco Herrerano products marketed by the family of President Juan Carlos
Varela are prepared.
According to Enrique Montenegro of the Anti-Corruption Front, this fact is linked to the questioned decisions that are impairing the image of the Government who insists in sending a message of lack of transparency, rampant cronyism and corruption.
"The President should not have allowed rolling that video in his ranch, because that is causing a tremendous damage to his administration. There are many tourism spots in that may be enhanced, so deciding for the ranch of the President´s family was never necessary", said the Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Front. Precisely, in the comments on the networks social citizens expressed that in the video other places of tourist attractions on the peninsula may be observed.
Flattery
However, Montenegro is not surprised that the decision of giving a disguised promotion to the ranch of Varela has been made.
"You can't expect anything else; the Government does not have neither the character nor the resolution to produce good TV spots to promote this area of the country", the lawyer said.
He concluded by asserting that, in addition to being a serious blunder, "everything is due to the fact that the President is being surrounded by flatterers and rakes ".
Former presidential candidate Juan Jované agreed that it is an act of unprecedented adulation.
"They seem to forget that their mission is to promote tourism and not the business of the President or his family´s," he said.
He alleged that any justification is out of order, since ranch San Isidro is a family business, not a public place for tourism.

Recently, it was known on social networks that a senior official of the Embassy of Panama in Spain used the same address of marketing of products of Varela Hermanos on his business card.

When he was the Chancellor, Varela took his position to conduct business in Europe, linked to the promotion of processed liquors by ranch San Isidro and, as the President, his brother accompanied him to a tour in Cuba with the same purpose.
