Teachers are waiting for appointments, but schools are still needing them

They are around 200 teachers in the 4 central provinces that request a permanent job, yet this results rather illogical, since there are different schools that need teachers.

The topic of appointments of teachers in provinces such as Coclé, Herrera, Los Santos and Veraguas adds to the usual problems of schools in poor condition that affect the entire educational community.

This is a contradiction since there are schools that lack teachers, while many teachers are waiting for an appointment in these provinces.

A group of teachers from several provinces protested yesterday in Herrera demanding to be appointed in the vacancies that the Ministry of Education has at the national level.

According to the protesters, they have not received an answer from the educational authorities, in spite that on several occasions they have approached the Ministry for answers.

Teachers shut for a short time the route in the area below the elevated bridge in Divisa and then continued the action on one side of the road, chanting slogans.

Jorge Serrano, spokesman for the teachers, said that they will not cease until they get appointed and did not rule out that more closures or demonstrations as a measure of pressure will be carried out.

"We have gathered throughout the week and to date not one appointment has been made, because no one knows who is in charge, if it is the Commission's Staff or Meduca through online vacancies process (Provel)", said the teacher.

The educators pointed out that in the past they have had temporary appointments, known in the educational system as a "Tefa", but this time they have not received any news as to when they will be appointed.
