The Deputy Attorney General of Panama will open an "initiative inquiry into the case" of corruption in Brazil, which has been linked to the firm Mossack Fonseca, said a judicial source to the news agency Efe.

"From job is to investigate the case of Brazil, no signature yet," a source said Friday prosecutors, entity that seeks to "clarify the fact" and determine "if there is an impact on Panama."

The firm is being investigated in the South American nation for allegedly facilitating the opening of offshore companies involved in the corruption scandal in Petrobras.

Contradictions

A company statement said that only are corporations and are not mediators for the purchase or financing of real estate outside of Panama.

"We are always ready to cooperate with the authorities to request information by the legally established channels and meeting the requirements of the relevant legislation," the company statement.

However, it does not explain what points the Brazilian prosecutor Carlos Dos Santos Lima was quoted by the news agency EFE, the firm has a three-story apartment in the resort of Guaruja.

"The research points to money laundering and concealment of assets through real estate," he said at a press conference the prosecutor Carlos Fernando Dos Santos Lima, one of those responsible for the case, according to EFE.

The release of the powerful signature indicates that his client in Brazil was quoted to explain things related to some cases that are investigated in this South American nation.

But it does not say anything about the arrest warrant of the lawyers of the firm Edison Teano Riaño Rivera and Maria Mercedes Quijano, both, according to a press release from the Brazilian justice, accused of alleged money laundering.

Mossack Fonseca explained that Brazil is perfectly legal form or use offshore companies to any transaction, whether real estate or other lawful purpose, provided that they comply with the statutory provisions.

However, one of the companies, Kingsfield Consulting, is being investigated very closely by the authorities of that country, since the record may have received more than $ 5 million of OSA construction, as bribes to get a concession in Chile.

The court notes that Edison Teano newsletter Rivera was in charge of finding clients for Mossack Fonseca & Co. Meanwhile, Riano Quijano holds the position of general manager of the firm's subsidiary in Brazil.

The firm Mossack Fonseca is directly linked to the government of Juan Carlos Varela. The Varela's minister counselor is Ramon Fonseca Mora Varela , chief executive of the firm.
