A proposal by the civil society that seeks to understand the administrative proceedings as well as the allocation and management of public funds in the Electoral Tribunal (TE) exposed the incompatibility of the current judges to transparency touting.

The initiative, which consists of an oversight, was read during the last session of the Commission on Electoral Reform, but rejected outright by the three senior officials of the TE.

Even if that group of suppliers, according to its proponents, would not be politicians, and they would be designated by civil society organizations, with meetings every four months.

The Electoral Tribunal has been in the eye of the storm by repeated allegations of nepotism and alleged irregularities in the use of funds of the institution, among other activities diverted for family parties , mainly by the presiding judge , Erasmo Pinilla.

Conections

Both Eduardo Valdes Escoffery Pinilla (VP) and Heriberto Sanchez Arauz (vocal magistrate ) will have managed to continue operating as a kind of island, oblivious to the processes of accountability and to allegations of links with the current administration.

“Erasmo Pinilla responds to government interests" said the former governor Mayín Correa , who is not surprised that the institution Pinilla leads goes well rid of allegations of nepotism and managing subsidies.

Precisely, on subsidies in the TE, political and social activist, Teresita Yanis de Arias, commented on her Twitter account, placing the Electoral Tribunal "under suspicion" .

They will insist

Meanwhile Carlos Lee, Citizens Alliance for Justice, lamented that the TE judges have rejected this proposal oversight.

He did not rule out in the future to insist on the adoption of this instance follow up the work of the high leadership of the TE. "It is a pending task, we have to keep fighting and fighting until we achieve these spaces constitutional change", Lee insisted.

In his approach he even went further, saying that "officials have not understood that democracy must include among their actions track officials, watchdog groups and accountability". And on the argument of the judges, who warn that such control is not necessary because until now there has not been worked and the institution with high standards, supposedly, was described by Lee as "without foundation".

"The country has matured and demanding accountability ... that's modern democracy," Carlos Lee reminded the judges of the Electoral Tribunal.
