Executive is exerting pressure around cases in the SCJ in support of the ruling party

The control of the National Assembly has made, at this time, several deputies be subjected to pressures through the filing of court proceedings against them and the offering of perquisites to support the Panameñismo.

The Executive organ would be pressuring members of the National Assembly through the filing of judicial proceedings in the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and audits by Office of the Comptroller-General so that they support the proposal of the Panameñista legislative faction.

This happened after it became known that the Executive would be behind the possible re-election of dissident member of the Revolutionary Democratic Party (PRD), Rubén De León, who has so far had the support of the Panameñista legislative faction; even with the negotiation of members José Luis "Popi" Varela and Adolfo "Beby" Valderrama, reported a source linked to the legislative organ.

For tomorrow Wednesday morning, the PRD legislative faction has called a meeting to try to stop the action of the government, who have also allegedly threatened members of the Democratic Change party (CD) with filing judicial proceedings that are held against them in the Supreme Court.

With this type of pressure, the Panameñista legislative faction and the group of six PRD members who, in the last period objected to the line of the political party founded by Omar Torrijos Herrera, are seeking to add more dissidents.

It is about Assembly members Leandro Avila, Quibian Panay, Javier Ortega, Pedro Miguel González and Elías Castillo, who are seeking the support of other factions, revealed legislator Javier Ortega.

Yesterday it became known that legislative members Raúl Pineda, Roberto Ayala and Alfredo "Fello" Pérez would be receiving pressures, because they have already been meeting with the group of dissidents.

However, the decision to vote for the proposal of the Panameñistas would depend on offerings that members in the Work Commissions may get, where major sections, such as the Budget Committee, are disputed.

The center of the disputes in the National Assembly would not get, at this moment, the benefits that a draft Law will produce, but the particular support legislators receive through undercover deals and construction contracts for works which are granted to family members, said the news source.

On the one hand, the party leadership of the PRD has asked them to vote for either Samir Gozaine or Benicio Robinson, current President of this group who would for now have the majority of votes.

Meanwhile, in the Democratic Change party, the leadership of this collective has launched strong warnings through a resolution that has given instruction to nominate a candidate in this election and that failure to do so would imply the non-re-election to this post in next elections.

The leadership of CD has called the vote be cast in favor of either Aris De Icaza or Fernando Carrillo to lead the Assembly.
