Reports of attacks and intimidation to critics voices against the current government does not cease.
A few weeks ago was the journalist Alvaro Alvarado, who claimed that the National Security Council a plan to silence him for his comments on the management of Juan Carlos Varela was ahead.
"President Varela repudiated the dirty campaign against him during the campaign. Now encouraged. Amazing how people change," he wrote yesterday in his account twiteer, the communicator.
In this same charge Alvarado said the attack also would be against the political analyst, Jose Isabel Blandon, who is reportedly no longer sharing space with the reporter on the morning news.
You can not fail to mention the constant informational fences against newspapers Epasa group, the fine by the Electoral Tribunal to the station and the recent conviction of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice and two journalists.
This judicial punishment was described as disastrous by the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), which recommended that it be raised to international levels.
Now, the next target would be the political commentator and sports entrepreneur, Juan Carlos Tapia, who has questioned the legal cases brought against former officials and suppliers, as well as the inaction of this administration on issues of national interest.
Repressive
For independent presidential candidate Juan Jované, this government shows every day its repressive character.
"In a democracy, citizens have the freedom to say what is right and wrong, and this government is reluctant to receive criticism. The lifestyle of senior officials, including President Juan Carlos Varela, gives to think they are able to you lose your temper in front of the citizens and that's too bad, "he said.
Meanwhile, Philemon Medina, secretary general of the Union of Journalists of Panama, said there have been some threats and intimidation to freedom of expression in the president's administration and the free exercise of journalism.
"The current administration, with an open interference in the National Assembly, we closed the road to discuss the law intended to regulate the exercise of journalism," he said.
On several occasions the president has lost control to the questions of journalists and citizens for their management.
One of these occurred in March 2015, when he bothered to an official act of Ceilings of Hope, Chiriquí, where a resident program questioned him about the slowness of the government.
For the lawyer Ernesto Cedeño, the Government should be more accommodating to those who express their opinion and steer to attack.
"All our authorities must take action to defend all those who feel intimidated by issuing an opinion against the current administration", noted Cedeño.
