After ordering a change of precautionary measure issued against the President in charge of the Democratic Change party (CD), Alma Cortés, she denounced a plan against her to establish a new leadership in that opposition collective.

Yesterday at NEXtv, the former Minister of Labor and Employment Development also blamed President Juan Carlos Varela of aiming to take control of the party, along with a group that has become allies of his Government.

Cortés asserts the existence of an internal conspiracy that is being forged by the defecting deputies that represent the CD in the National Assembly, as well as by CD members aspiring to preside over the political party concerned "who have become allies to Juan Carlos Varela".

She also denounced that her arrest occurred while she was still under the protection of the electoral immunity, and yet an investigation was ordered to accuse her of unjustified enrichment.

The above took place, after two properties that are still held in mortgage, but that in a report by the Comptroller´s Office had been presented as liabilities, alongside with other funds without considering that she had already left a law firm where she made some income.

She said that it was demonstrated that it all had been a tactic carried out by the Comptroller, and that the boss, Federico Humbert, was upset for being mentioned in the case of dried food of which his wife is part.

She also claimed that there exists an inflexible posture from the Judge President of the Electoral Court (TE), Erasmo Pinilla, so that her detention were carried out without the need of lifting her electoral immunity.

Cortés explained that together with the Comptroller Federico Humbert an authorization to investigate her was requested, by means of a note authorized by the judge Pinilla in blatant violation of the law.

She also raised that these arbitrariness did not stop there, but the sixth anti-corruption prosecutor, Aurelio Vasquez, and the fourth judge, respectively; ordered her detention declining a bail of release request, as they were aware that a scheme had been orchestrated to steer her away from CD for one year.

"I will do what I have to do to get these people who have done harm to the State to pay. “They think that they will hold those positions forever", she argued.

She expressed how on the day of her arrest her blood pressure went up, however her medical doctors were not allowed to come up to assist her on the Avesa building, and in other cases an evaluation by forensics medicine was ordered, but this was not done.

She explained that there were instructions to the Commissioner of Police that on the day of her release she were not allowed to walk out through the front door, but she turned around at the police headquarters to greet those who were there to support her.

"I told President Juan Carlos Varela that I was in jail due to him", she denounced.

Meanwhile, she stated that she never formed part of the former President Ricardo Martinelli´s zero circle, and that Juan Carlos Varela was part of that circle.

She stressed that the day on which he was expelled from the government was a total surprise, because he would always be sticking together with Martinelli in his post as FR minister.

Cortes said that she does disregard leaving the leadership of the party. "If the attacks against me continue, I'm going to make a decision".
