Government has no answers to national problems

No precise answers to issues such as insecurity, water, unemployment, cost of living and the economy in the 18 months of government of administration led by President Juan Carlos Varela, was evident during  the Dichter & Neira  last public opinion survey Dichter & Neira.

The study, conducted from 14 to 17 January this year and 1,200 interviews revealed that the aforementioned issues occupy the top five positions as the main problems affecting the country.

In fact, insecurity still the most serious problem facing Panama as 23% of respondents do not feel protected, although the numbers reveal a decline, despite the implementation of the "Safe Neighborhoods" program, according to the Ministry Security (Minseg), he dismantled 150 gangs and 4,160 youth were enrolled in it.

For the former presidential candidate John Jované, for some reason, the Government has not been able to eliminate the "perception" of people.

Meanwhile, the water took second place, contrary to the survey of November 17, 2015, when it stood at point 9, revealing that the drought in central provinces and the lack of potable water in several parts of the country concern the citizens.

Indeed, in a statement of the Episcopal Conference, which is the product of an analysis of Panamanian religious concerns of environmental problems in the country and its adverse effects, therefore, they recommended changing lifestyles are discussed.

They also acknowledged that issues such as electoral reforms, the Panama Canal expansion, education, health and transport demand a concrete response to the significant challenges facing the country.

According to the former director of the Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN), Juan Antonio Ducreux, the media coverage over water and the effects of El Niño have raised concerns about the vital liquid, and should not call attention only use but also the implementation of strategies to be prepared for climate change.

But in the campaign of responsible use of water made by the IDAAN , the former director of the institution said that it is advertising campaigns, but of implementing public policies that begin with a tariff revision to punish the waste water not only and it encourages savings.

'A government incapable'

For the political analyst and tenacious critic of Varela management, Mauro Zuniga, we are in the presence of a "completely incapable government, has not solved anything", therefore, it is evident disgust and indignation of the population.

While admitting that is repetitive in its response because it ensures that it is, the doctor said he also looks at the risk that it can direct this anger into more organized protests.

"What I see and am worried that it may be another coup, because people is destabilizing, is very angry", he said .
