While the Minister of Education (Meduca), Marcela Paredes de Vasquez, confirmed the existence of irregular situations in handling your portfolio tenders, the company Eduholding described as false that school chairs are damaged today.

"Yes it is true that, as we announced, we detected irregular situations in the bidding process. We are still reviewing bids now we will not publish because they have different deficiencies," the official acknowledged in an interview.

When confronted with the publication on Monday 15 February, entitled "Eduholding and Paredes: Key in the scandal Meduca", the official simply replied: "That sounds like a soap opera," but did not deny the veracity of the facts reported.

Those who defended the contents of the report were the representatives of the company Eduholding who, through his lawyer, Gilberto Perez, said that contracts have been signed with the Meduca "amounts are very different from those mentioned in the newspaper article ".

They claimed that the products sold were delivered in a timely manner and there have been no complaints about quality or claims of any kind.

In turn, they rejected that are linked to the Index and Panama Jayko societies.

On school chairs, they stated that they began to hand three weeks ago and "to date, the company has received no reports of damage verbally or in writing."

This contract, they said, they were awarded by $ 1.2 million and met all review processes and oversight by the Comptroller General, who endorsed.

The information published in this way , on February 15 , it is mentioned , based on information provided by a source , that according to the assessment made by the Comptroller , every chair sold by Eduholding to $89 had a price market ranging between 45 and 53 dollars.

He added that before the comptroller objection to endorse the contract, Paredes Minister negotiated with the company, which proceeded to set the price with the assessment of the Comptroller .

According to the lawyer Pérez , notes "contain false and / or distorted information " that " denote the misconduct of the source that provided this information to the environment ."

The letter addressed to Eduholding hereby leads back to the anti-corruption czar , Angelica Maytín , who yesterday should have met with the minister to discuss the flaws found in hiring .
