Congresswoman says concession Lake Bayano already has an owner

The deputy of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) Zulay Rodriguez says that at the time when the government proposal to privatize the Lake Bayano, this concession already has its owner is the company AES Panama, and it has not been approved so far.

Speaking to Radio Panama, Rodriguez said that the president Juan Carlos Varela himself announced this process on Saturday January 2 and AES Panama already has 49 percent of the lake management, but with the concession will grant the full of water.

She said the document is now ready, however, until date the Executive does not dare to present it to the National Assembly for their respective discussion.

She said that President Varela promised during his campaign that it would invest a billion dollars to provide potable water to the entire population seven days a week, but now changed his speech and prefers a concession in the case of Lake Bayano.

She stressed that the company AES Panama is responsible for the country to pay one of the most expensive electricity rates on the continent.
