A sad role was starred by the Attorney General of the Nation, Kenya Porcell, as last week she scolded the authorities of Interpol due to requests for capture that have been sent to this police agency.
This is what former Minister of Security José Raúl Mulino stated when said that she did no favor to either her boss (President Juan Carlos Varela) or to the image of the country.
"If there were any doubts remaining about the worrying situation of political persecution that exists against only those who belong to Democratic Change, the Attorney General has cleared them completely", said the politician.
Mrs. Porcell, during the inauguration of the hemispheric meeting of Interpol, broke Protocol, when she demanded for responses about 34 applications that had been submitted.
Mr. Mulino made it clear that this meeting is not politically motivated and that States represented there do not do so for purposes like exchanging favors.
"Interpol has its own regulations and directives from France rule it, regardless of the wishes of the member States" he said.
Responsibility for this action, according to Mulino, must not be attributed to her advisers, "if she has any", but to herself, who broke the protocol of this hemispheric meeting and with a "nervous tone and with a body shaky language", made this request.
The former Minister stated that this Interpol meeting was organized by both his person and former director of the National Police, Julio Molto during the previous event in 2013 in Curaçao.
"The performance of Panama was highly recognized, to such point that the President and the Secretary General of Interpol made a special visit to President Martinelli to congratulate the country", he recalled.
Former Minister of Security does not question that investigations and trials are carried out in accordance with the law, but justice and prosecution in cases of offence must be equal for all.
There is particular justice for the CD, driven by just persecution, and another one for the rest of the people”, denounced Mr. Mulino.
The also lawyer was wondering what those present at the Interpol meeting might have though after the irregular request by the Head of the Public Ministry especially when the Secretary General of the Police Agency responded to the Press that the case of former President Ricardo Martinelli "will be evaluated in conformity with the statutes".
Delay
On the process of extradition of the former President, his legal team denounced that the Foreign Relations Ministry has delayed sending a warning of unconstitutionality to the Supreme Court of Justice, as set forth in the Law.
According to lawyer Sídney Sittón, the Legal Department of the Foreign Relations Ministry invoked the two days that the Law allows to evaluate the resource.
