An agreement with one goal: to liquidate Ricardo Martinelli

What seems to light a political agreement between the Panamanian Party and the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD), it is nothing more than a puzzle made with subtlety to harm the president Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal.

This premise part of a comprehensive analysis explained with their own arguments by several sources consulted by this newspaper.

Everything begins with the signing of the famous governance pact between two political factions for decades despised: Panameñistas and PRD, one of the other center-right Social Democrat, in theory.

But beyond these political currents, which is cooked in this partisan agreement is nothing more than an armed plot by President Juan Carlos Varela and his former adversary Martin Torrijos Espino. Its end, liquidate Martinelli's popularity and his party Democratic Change (CD).

Proof of this is that during the last political campaign, Torrijos led a bloc that showed his unconditional support to varelistas.

Both Torrijos and Varela were financed their campaign by businessman Stanley Motta.

Currently Torrijos is moved inside the PRD again seeking support for running for president of the Republic, it would also be supported by the Panameñistas.

According to Luis Eduardo Camacho, a spokesman for Democratic Change (CD) it is an open secret that Varela and Torrijos cogobiernan the country and that his only reason for having political power is to subtract forces Martinelli and CD.

"It is no secret that during the last campaign, Torrijos and several figures of the PRD supported the candidacy of Varela? There was Mitchell Doens, Sanchez Cardenas, Balbina Herrera and others," he said.

Camacho said both Torrijos and Varela seek alternate power through their parties and annihilate the sympathy and roots that still generates CD destroying the image of Martinelli and that collective.

"As Martinelli and Democratic Change represent a force and an option for Panamanians, these gentlemen have dedicated themselves to kill everything that smacks CD? But that pact has birthdate".

Following the accolade given to panameñismo by that block the PRD in the last race, Varela has paid Torrijos political favor.

Faced with this fact, Alejandro Perez, exviceministro of Government and Justice, believes that there is no doubt that power right now and share it Torrijos Varela and each seeks its interests.

"Sheets keys PRD have made great appointments in this government. There is the case of Federico Humbert comptroller, Rafael Mezquita in Tocumen airport, and many others," Perez said.

In the case of comptroller Federico Humbert, was ambassador of Panama in the United States during the administration of Martin Torrijos and his team now, largely, is the same who accompanied him then.

Perez said that in that return favors the PRD, a possible appointment of James Bernard, the "anointed" in the Ombudsman's Office is contemplated.

But between distribution of positions and powers, the great challenge of this pact is to erase the collective subconscious effect that created the political Martinelli and CD for 5 years.

It should be noted that this businessman managed to reach the presidency of Panama with more than 900 thousand votes at the polls, an issue that robs sleep his adversaries, but can not constitutionally run for president, after two consecutive periods.

For this trophy, Varela and Torrijos rely on the Supreme Court (CSJ) said Naphtali Jaén, assistant former prosecutor of the Republic.

"On the issue of political persecution, Jerome Mejia and Oyden Ortega have manifested in the direction of harm Martinelli.

Both Mejia and Ortega were appointed by Torrijos in court on December 28, 2007.

"That leads us to the conclusion that the governance pact agreements reached within the judiciary," said Jaen.

Remember that Mejia guarantees acts as judge in the case against Martinelli for alleged wiretaps. The second is the prosecutor in the case against the alleged irregular Martinelli by buying dehydrated food resources National Program Support (PAN).

In addition, Jaen party called the agreement as a compromise between varelistas and a wing of the PRD to achieve their interests.

"This pact has no favorable for the people of Panama point, because in reality does not exist," said Jaen.

Other voices criticize this political bond because they see it as an excuse for the distribution of positions and political positions on behalf of the alleged governance.

It explained Rolando Mirones, who is currently the president of the Movement Refoundation Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD).

Mirones admitted that for him, this deal made sense as discuss laws for the people.

"What sense does governance agreement if the responsibility of a bank of opposition is to analyze the laws ... which are positive for the country are approved and those that do not are rejected," said Mirones.

Meanwhile, Camilo Alleyne, vice president (PRD) said that the governance pact with Panameñistas is convenience.

"We need to adopt a clear position as a collective for the country to see us as we are, an opposition party," said Alleyne.

He added that the opposition has to do their role and the PRD can not be a parliamentary, but party with a national vision.

The stability of this agreement has been hit several times, because contrary to the signing of this pact wing think you hurt the PRD.

For the deputy Zulay Rodriguez is an agreement that does not benefit the country and affecting the tarnished image of the group it represents.
